Excellent oyako-don and service
N35°16.254' E136°15.086' This popular Local Hinai-chicken-izakaya on the Yume Kyōbashi Castle Road in Hikone is housed in an atmospheric traditional-style house, serving a variety of local chicken dishes, such as yakitori and chicken with rice donburi. There is no English menu, but staff speak a little English. At opening time, this izakaya fills up quickly.
In April 2018, we started with ordering an exquisite salad with small shrimps, chicken leg and breast with soya sauce, followed with oyako-don (chicken, egg/rice bowl) and chicken drumsticks. Our first time oyako-don was delicious. We finished with a nice dessert; we cannot remember the name.
The owner helped us with ordering, looked after us and called our guesthouse that we would arrive later that evening.

Read moreI would like to say this could be one of the best Oyakudon that I ever had (Sorry if it did not live up to your expectations, please introduce me). The texture and flavors of each mouth are watering, and the ramen was not bad as well. The atmosphere really sets you into Japan traditional sitting style.
Really did enjoy my lunch here 😋 and definitely will drop by again if I pass by next time! Do note that there are free parking just beside the store if you are planning to dine in here ( I did not know this and went to park at a paid carpark)... Please defend this place if Japan ever...
Read moreExcellent chicken dishes here! While the price of the skewers are higher, it is reflected by the quality of its meat.
Remember to look at the limited monthly items, it is well worth ordering. Their oyakadon is famous but i have heard good things about their nabe pot!
Also worth it is the pudding where they make a creme brule with it.
You would need to take off your shoes as it is tatami seating but really adds the atmosphere for the shop! Definitely visit if you are...
