Going to edomae sushi as a foreigner can be intimidating at times, but I had such a welcoming experience with the employee here. It was nice to have personal conversations, talk about Japan, and to listen to his informative explanation about each of the dishes I ate during my meal. I had the lunch nigiri course today (December 3rd, 2024), and I cannot recommend it enough. I was fortunate to try a variety of fish I had not had before — my favourite was the ruby fish. However, every single dish was tasty.
I was sad to leave the restaurant as I had such a positive experience, but I am so grateful I came to Kagoshima, if not for this meal alone. In my two trips to Japan, this is without a doubt, my favourite meal I have had.

Read moreI didn’t know sushi at this price could be at this level. The quality is up to any Michelin star place I’ve eaten in NYC. I came here twice because of the quality and how much I enjoyed talking with the chef, who speaks an impressive level of English.
Great sake, unique seasonal cuts, thoughtful side dishes. This will be a place I remember for a long time. Hopefully it doesn’t ruin sushi for me in America going forward.
Highly recommend going here if you are in Kagoshima, especially as a foreigner wanting to experience edomae sushi.
