「　名山　きみや　」さんに以前一回だけ知り合いの方がたまたま予約をとって下さって行った思い出が忘れられなくて何回か予約をとりたいのですがなかなかです。。。 そうこうしているうちに同じ書体の「　すし処　きみや（(旧:立喰い鮨きみや)　」さんを前日に見つけました。 まさか前日に予約は無理だろうと思っていたら、たまたま平日だったこともあり運よく予約が取れましたので、はるばる都城から電車で鹿児島中央駅まで行き、そこから久しぶりに市電に乗ったら本当に電停から徒歩１０秒くらいで行けたので、予約時間５分前にギリギリ間に合いました！＾＾ 味は少し濃いめでしたが、魚はすべて新鮮で美味しかったです。。。 このコースでこの価格だったら、結構コスパいいと思いました。 ちなみにコースはおまかせ握りが１０貫 真鯛・マグロ（塩釜産）の赤身・中トロ・コハダ・メイワシ・キンメ・ヒラメ・メジナ・白子・サクラマスと巻き物、玉子とおつまみ４種くらいと味噌汁でしたが、追加注文でウニ・穴子の握りを注文しました。 後から見るとイクラ丼？も美味しそうでした！ またこれのためだけに鹿児島行くのもアリかな。。。

Going to edomae sushi as a foreigner can be intimidating at times, but I had such a welcoming experience with the employee here. It was nice to have personal conversations, talk about Japan, and to listen to his informative explanation about each of the dishes I ate during my meal. I had the lunch nigiri course today (December 3rd, 2024), and I cannot recommend it enough. I was fortunate to try a variety of fish I had not had before — my favourite was the ruby fish. However, every single dish was tasty.

I was sad to leave the restaurant as I had such a positive experience, but I am so grateful I came to Kagoshima, if not for this meal alone. In my two trips to Japan, this is without a doubt, my favourite meal I have had.

I didn’t know sushi at this price could be at this level. The quality is up to any Michelin star place I’ve eaten in NYC. I came here twice because of the quality and how much I enjoyed talking with the chef, who speaks an impressive level of English.

Great sake, unique seasonal cuts, thoughtful side dishes. This will be a place I remember for a long time. Hopefully it doesn’t ruin sushi for me in America going forward.

Highly recommend going here if you are in Kagoshima, especially as a foreigner wanting to experience edomae sushi.
