一茶庵 KARUIZAWA — Restaurant in Karuizawa

Everything was incredibly delicious, from the 3 types of appetisers, peking duck-like roll to the super crisp Karuizawa beer! Honestly we came here because I was craving duck soba, which was absolutely stellar! 🌟 The noodles were delightfully chilled and chewy, the hot duck soup had the softest and tastiest meat balls ever and really tender duck meat, and they provided the usual sobacha to enjoy the soup with after!

The chef has 30+ years of experience making soba and comes from Tokyo, specialising in Issa-an soba, which tends to be thinner and has a more elastic bouncier texture! Apparently people from Tokyo come here specially to eat his noodles.

Perhaps it's because they're a little new, but the service was impeccable. Shiza helped us by translating and recommending the best things on the menu, and was delightful to chat with. Would come back anytime I'm back in...
