I had an unforgettable dining experience at Wagyu Teppanyaki Okini. The evening started with two appetizers, delicious shabu-shabu and an incredible tartare bite that was packed with flavor. The traditional fish course was also perfectly prepared.

The highlight was the Kobe beef. I had it served with fresh wasabi, crispy garlic, and clarified soy sauce, it literally melted in my mouth. The chef shaved fresh truffle directly on top, which made it even more special. They serve the rare 0.3% of Tajima beef that qualifies for the Kobe label, and you can truly taste the difference.

For dessert, I had a refreshing strawberry sorbet with cantaloupe. The chef guided me through each course, making the whole experience even more personal. The staff was also warm,, attentive, and professional.

Chef Tommy and the team were the most accommodating for our last night in Karuizawa. We had the combination / comparison set and when we ordered extra, a la carte, because the meat was so delicious. Chef Tommy prepared a special cut for us which was especially delectable and suited for our appetites after an already filing and delicious meal. The atmosphere was serene and even bathroom was very clean and well-stocked with individual mouth wash; they called a cab for us upon our departure as well.
