Maruyama Coffee — Restaurant in Karuizawa

Although the shop is located outside the inner city of Karuizawa, it has a cozy, homey atmosphere, featuring classic Western-style decor and surrounded by plenty of trees. You’ll need to drive or take a taxi to get there. We visited based on a recommendation from locals when we asked about their favorite coffee shops. The staff member, who speaks fluent English due to having lived in the USA, asked about our preferences for light or dark roasts, offered helpful recommendations, and even gave us free tastings. Cozy coffee shop tucked away from the main road. Unfortunately there’s not a lot of choice for food here besides cake and coffee - I recommend coming here for an afternoon tea or a coffee break but if you’re looking for a meal, you’ll be left wanting more. Too busy, not enough seats. The first day I went, I was able to get a seat at 2:30pm. However, the next morning, a group of 15 ppl were waiting before me. I could see a space for one person but the waiter told me the group would be prioritised. You would think that with such a huge number of people they would think what makes more common sense.
