Amazing food, service, and atmosphere all around. I splurged here but normally this place runs you between 1000-2000 ¥. They have a tasting menu limited to solo eaters. They have a Japanese and English menu, accept credit card and tap-to-pay ONLY if you spend at least 5000 ¥.
The service here is spot on and they're used to dealing with tourists. The water is self-serve. You order everything through the tablet which is Japanese-only. They have a button to call for help so that the staff can order the item for you, you just need to point them to it.
I got the Mojiko Queen set with the golden crab curry. It comes with rice, roast beef, salad, spring rolls, and a triple cheese parfait. I would say the sides weren't worth it. I'd rather just get two of the curries.
As one who loves to cook, this curry was transformative for me. The base of it is in a more massaman style. But it is flavored with the sweetness of crabs. The idea never came to my head but it's like tomato & mozzarella. I'm an individual who enjoys both components so I've been inspired now. The spice level is that of 1/18th a seedless jalapeno.bthey give you just enough curry for your rice if you scoop decent size bits of rice, otherwise you could use a bit more curry.
The roast beef was nice and comes with pickled mustard greens to cut into it. I recommend you eat those two parts together along with the sauce for the complementary depth all three will have.
The spring roll was standard-fare with full shrimp & vegetable stuffing. The salad was nice and crisp and the dressing to accompany it was a...
Read moreI ordered two signature dishes: Mentaiko Baked Curry and Beef Chuck Baked Curry, along with vegetable toppings, fried fries, and Moji Port craft beer. The overall experience was satisfying.
Mentaiko Baked Curry The dish featured rice topped with spicy cod roe (mentaiko) and melted cheese, lightly grilled for a slightly crispy surface. The saltiness of the mentaiko paired well with the mildly spicy curry, while the bottom layer of rice had a pleasant crunch from the iron griddle. Rich in flavor but not overwhelming.
Beef Chuck Baked Curry The beef was incredibly tender, almost melting in the mouth. The curry sauce had a subtle sweetness, likely from apples or honey. The grilled vegetable toppings (eggplant, bell peppers, etc.) added freshness, balancing the dish nicely.
Sides Fried Fries: Crispy outside, fluffy inside, with a rustic skin-on texture. Lightly salted with pepper for a simple yet tasty touch.
Highly recommended if you’re...
Read moreAn absolute gem in Moji Port! This cozy eatery serves the most exquisite Japanese curry I've ever tasted - rich, aromatic sauce with perfectly balanced spices that dance on the palate. The tender meat (or seafood) melts in your mouth while the secret-recipe curry boasts wonderful depth with subtle smoky undertakes. Portions are generous yet artfully presented, complemented by crispy ostera sides that add perfect texture contrast. Friendly staff explain their locally-inspired curry variations with passion, and the nostalgic Showa-era decor enhances the authentic experience. A must-visit culinary landmark that elevates simple comfort food to...
