Food is plain. I am not very impressed The service is okay. My tea cup is empty all the time except beginning even I was the only person in the restaurant It was a heavily snowy day. I ordered the food called hungry tiger and when finished eating, i noticed there is little food I bought from familymart in my bag so I ask the waitress if I can eat them so that it won’t turn cold. I got rejected sadly. It’s fine since it’s their written rule? I was the only person in the restaurant during that time and I don’t see a big deal on this Above is my experience over there

Marutaka is a beautiful little restaurant run by a Japanese and Czech husband and wife duo. They are super lovely and friendly and the food there is delish! They've got a mix of western and Japanese food so whether you're looking for a taste of home or a local dish they've got you covered. It's situated on the tree-lined main road through Koya-san, just up from Danjo-Garan, and when I visited in Autumn, the leaves were in full colour 🍁😍. Good food, good price, good company I absolutely loved my time there! 10/10 would recommend 👌

Amazing little cafe and restaurant in Koyasan right opposite Danjo Garan. Perfect for a delicious yet filling lunch I'm between seeing all the temples. Run by a Japanese-Czech couple. Get there between noon and 2.30pm for the set lunch menu of veggie curry for ¥1,200. Highly recommended.

I had the chance to try most of the dishes at Marutaka Restaurant and everything was excellent! I like that they offer both Western food (like hamburgers or pizza) and pizza, but of course you can also choose from a variety of Japanese meals. I personally love Japanese cuisine, so that’s what I mostly went for.

The karaage and teriyaki chicken are always a great choice, If you’re open to trying something different, I really recommend to try eg. chicken gizzards, hearts, or tori kawaguchi (fried chicken skin). These are typical dishes for a Japanese-style evening dining experience (Izakaya).

The desserts are also very tasty, including their homemade “bublanina” – a traditional Czech dessert.

The restaurant is run by a Japanese-Czech couple, so you can easily speak both Japanese and English here. I also have to mention the lovely atmosphere and of course, the owners and staff who are so kind and always smiling.

Highly recommended –...

Great and cozy place to have lunch or dinner right outside of Dango Jaran next to convenience store. Restaurant is owned by Czech -Japanese couple and we simply loved anything we had there. Me and my daughter ate there three times during our stay in the Koyasan. I loved vegetarian curry and my soya burger (they do have meat variety of burger as well), my salads were very fresh an tasty, coffee was great, so were their cakes. I got valuable advice about bus to Kyouto, hospitality of both owners exceeded our expectation. We...
