Katsu was flavorless, the cabbage was malansa, miso was imbalanced (though it was carrying the katsu hard) and the rice was dry. Service, ambience, and price were 10/10 tho. I think tourist (Mainland Chinese from my limited observation) families bringing their kids to eat here super appreciate being welcomed/not turned away. Sad about the food -- would avoid, there are far better tasting katsu places elsewhere.

It seems to be a lighter and "healthier" version of Tonkatsu, which I think would definitely appeal to many people but not so much me. The standard meal gives you 4 relatively small pieces of Misokatsu (plus rice, sauce, and a healthy amount of cabbage), and to be honest I expected slightly more when I consider the amount of Tonkatsu I can get at other places in Japan for the same price. And this hit the spot. The pork tonkatsu was really good, especially with the brown sauce. We also liked the ebi fry. The grilled fish with butter was nice, while the deep fried fish was okay. The crab croquette had a creamy mash centre but we could not really taste the crab at all.
