Niseko Pizza
An unexpected gem right here in Niseko ski town. At first, it is not a place that screams out to you because it’s a pizza place, but man was I wrong. They have a bar with a great selection of wines and alcohol, wood fire pizzas, handmade pastas and whole lot of great hospitality!
The pizzas were fantastic with the dough being on the chewy side with great texture and flavour, along with a solid crunch on the outside. The toppings were also very delicious with cured meats freshly shaved by the kitchen crew instead of the typical store bought pre sliced ones which gives them more control. The seafood pasta with clams, mussels, cherry tomatoes and handmade spaghetti was simply delicious. The noodles were springy with great texture and it really absorbed the flavour of the sauce which was magnificent!
The gnocchi was shockingly not bad! I hate gnocchi because it usually tastes gummy and doughy but this tasted tender and actually like potato! Coupled with the Gorgonzola sauce, simply wonderful!
The ribs were also beautifully done, so tender that it was almost impossible to slice it cleanly with a knife as it kept falling apart. However, the Texas styles ribs with the dry rib were a bit salty for our taste buds, so our server, Tyler recommended us to add some chilli oil which really did the trick. It rounded off the saltiness and made such a delicious mouthful!
Last but not least, we have the star of the night, chocolate pizza. Using chocolate fondant batter as the base so that the pizza doesn’t get soggy when the chocolate, caramel sauce, roasted marshmallow and ice cream go on TOP is simply a genius idea. It also adds a nice chocolate richness to the pizza. Coupled with the chewy dough, it is such a wonderful way to add the meal. My favourite bite is when you get the melty marshmallow as I am a major s’mores lover.
Wonderful wonderful place for great food, drinks...
Read moreTerrible experience here, with an impolite/incompetent staff. We went to a place a few minutes walk away called lava lounge pizza.
Called ahead to ask about reservations by some guy named "John" who told us to just show up. After arriving we were surprised to find there was a long line in front of us and we would have to wait in the cold room in the front of the restaurant. A little annoyed after being told to just walk in and having to wait, we sat down. The waitress working the front tapped her ipad a couple times (we assumed to add us to the queue/line) and told us to take a seat. Some other people showed up and were added to the queue ahead of us (apparently the waitress had not added us to the line after all). We were skipped and apparently it was our fault. When I asked how much longer the wait would be, expecting her to say 45 minutes or so, she quickly replied "no, no maybe 5/10 minutes." 30 minutes later we left, walked a few minutes away to lava lounge pizza and had a great experience. If you're looking for a good relaxing experience with friends after a long day of skiing or snowboarding DO NOT COME HERE. The staff is clueless and you will be waiting for an...
Read moreGreat, if you like cold pizza!
Called and ordered 12 pizzas for 9 hungry kids and 6 hungry adults on the 13th of January from Phil, who said 45 mins, no, make that 1 hr til the pizza would be ready. So we turn up EXACTLY at 8.15, one hour later. Pizza is picked up and an extortionate fee paid. My friends, who picked it up did not somehow realise the pizza was STONE COLD until they got it in the car, at which point (already driving back home to hungry people where we had NO OVEN) I made a call to the manager and registered my complete disappointment and said we wanted at least some compensation for the cold pizza. We didn’t have time to turn around and get something else, but I wanted them to know, and I wanted a sorry, and I wanted a free pizza - or something! But we got none of that. Just a sorry there’s nothing we are going to do about it! Disappointed, and the pizza wasn’t very nice at all, because it was very very cold. Thanks for nothing, Niseko Pizza! I regret ordering pizza from you.
I guess this is what happens when you have a monopoly on...
