Dining here was such a great experience. We were at the counter so we could enjoy the husband and wife duo prepare their elegant and sophisticated dishes right in front of our eyes. For us, being used to the excellent food of Kyōto, here is what was the best: the chef is a former computer engineer and the way he plans, prepares, and composes each course is like an artful precision ballet in the kitchen. We were holding our breath speechless as he would create each dish. A true master. And besides - they are just super nice and friendly. Every dish had something extra, something really unique, something remarkable. Thank you and congratulations on this high level of culinary excellence!

Found this place on michelin guide. Little restaurant in the middle of the suburbs that wont break the bank. Servers doesnt speak much English but nothing a little google translate cant fix. Food was so good. When I say good, I mean i dont know why they’re bib gourmand, they should have a star! Everything was so balanced and you dont walk out too stuffed! No favorites because all of them were bangers but if i had to choose its the sashimi course that got me to my knees.

令和元日に誕生して3周年となったお店で、カウンター席は調理される姿の美しさを見ることができます。5月8日までは開店記念の特別メニューもあり、初来店ですが頂きました。 八寸の細もずく、胡麻和え、自家製からすみ等から始まり、上品で繊細な味の茶碗蒸しが絶品で、細胞の隅々まで行き渡るような感動に包まれました。塩でいただく穴子の刺身はやみつきになる人もいるでしょう。桜鱒の焼き方も素晴らしいですが、手前の添えもの2品がそれぞれ味が大きく違い、些細なところにまで工夫されていることを感じずにはいられません。お肉も柔らかく、タレがかかってましたが塩でも美味しいのでは、と思いました。 「紫竹葵湖」は素材の質や味の繊細さを最大限に引き出すような調理で、温かさを感じるお味でした。 予約が取れなくなった丸太町の「日本料理さかい」に行くのか、「紫竹葵湖」に行くのか、と選択を難しくさせるお店です。葵湖は居心地が良いので、つい長居してしまうお店ですから、自然と足が向く人も多いでしょう。 上記のコメント以降に何度か訪れましたが、和食の料理人は、本当に大変だなと感じました。見せ方一つで料理の印象が変わってしまうのと、一番大切なものはモチベーション、情熱を持続させるのが、いかに難しいことなのか。味の深みや広がりに表れるので、なんとか頑張って欲しいなと思いました。
