4Gats — Restaurant in Matsue

Loved the attention to design detail, including the tiny drinks menu with magnifying glass. A bit like being down a steampunk version of the rabbit hole (Alice in Wonderland). Slightly different take on familiar dishes - ebi croquette served with a full sweet prawn and a chunky ebi katsu without rice, plus old school favourites like salmon tartare with saltine crackers. Though tempted by the Niagara burger (double ebi burger with a waterfall of sauce) I went with the seafood curry featuring prawn, mussels, clams in a mild creamy sauce.
