Matsue Horikawa Local Beer Hall — Restaurant in Matsue

Restaurant upstairs is only open weekends for now, and no pub food available. You can sit up there and watch baseball practice, provided u can climb the stairs as your day drinking progresses. There's a bathroom at least. So show up fed. Friggin staff not too helpful in that respect. Nearby Menfan shokudo offers a wide array of alcohol absorbing gut bombs. Hint: it's in the rear of the Janbo Max pachinko parlor bldg. Be prepared to navigate the ticket vending machine with googirl xlate.

Anyway, Weizen was good, stout was ok. Champagne lager and pils was mid. JPY 500 for a half pint. No tasting flights like on the restaurant menu pix...have to build your own.

Bonus challenge: pound a flight and complete a loop on the Horikawa Fune without blowing chunks or pissing...

Five own CBs, both regular and seasonal, are available on tap. Excellent tastes, in particular Pilsner, Stout and Weizen, probably thanks to pure water and sake-based brewing techniques.
