I stayed in Norikura for 2 nights. For dinner this home cook style restaurant only accept reservations. So I was not allowed to eat the first night. Asked the hotel manager in Guesthouse Raicho (great place to stay, highly recommended) to made the reservation the next day. Got in on the dot the next day and had a wonderful experience. The cook is a lady, I think she’s the only one running the show. Ordered the curry pork cutlet and hot chocolate. The portion is big, and the pork is very well cooked. The hot chocolate is a little bit sweet, but it’s creamy and taste extra good in that cold night. The restaurant is made from the woods from local tree I guess, and everything is very genuine. Honestly the food won’t blow you away, but the atmosphere and the setting is something you will enjoy. After I paid my bill, the lady gave me a locally grown apple. Read moreI've been to this restaurant a couple of times when I was in Norikura Kougen for a few months. The first time I had what some people call Pirate Chicken, that is the Sanzoku Chicken. This came with a bowl of rice and some Miso for ¥1.000 Which is a great deal. The chicken is delicious.
They also have Karaage which is really delicious as well. I had the Karaage Chicken with Curry and rice for only ¥900 that was a great deal as well. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures of the pirate chicken, but that is pounded flat, I have a few pictures of the Karaage with Curry and Rice. This restaurant is great. I highly recommend leaving early, on nice days it tends to be booked and full from my experience.
Oh yeah, they also have some nice Japanese hard treats. Those are a nice touch. Great place,...
