下の一色 本店 — Restaurant in Nagoya

We were in Nagoya on the 6th April during our first ever family holiday to Japan. My husband is a big fan of “when in rome…” so wanted to try as many different local foods as possible while we were there. We stumbled upon this quaint fishmongers restaurant specialising in whale (Kujira) After making a booking online, we areived to find they had prepared a personalised table for us and were very welcoming of us as tourists. One of the younger waitresses even took time to show our kids different ways whale is used in japanese culture and how the whole animal is used, even their teeth! (She has very good english by the way!)

The food was absolutely delicious, a very subtle sweet but meaty flavour that is so unique! It was also so well prepared and beautifully displayed. The hospitality of the staff (especially to westerners) was absolutely lovely and really showed true the loving and generous nature of the japanese.

We will definitely recommend this restaurant to other open-minded travelers and if ever in Nagoya on future trips we will definitely return. Thank you for a wonderful night.

たまたま名古屋に泊まりの用事で来ていたので、せっかくなので以前よりYouTube「魚屋の森さん」で有名な魚の台所 下の一色 本店 で夕食を摂ることにしました。(ΦωΦ) ホテルのある名古屋駅前から中央線で中津川方面へ2駅 鶴舞駅で降りて歩いて7分程でしょうか。高速道路沿いの国道に面したところにお店が有りました。(ΦωΦ) 金曜日の夜ということもあってお店は 大賑わい！カウンター以外はほぼ満席で 店員さんに案内された後も続々とお客さんがやって来てすぐにカウンターも満席に(ΦωΦ)！ 大人数で来られる方は予約した方が良いかも。一人や二人の方も週末は予約しておくと安心です。 タイミングよく座れたのはラッキーでした！鯨料理があるということで、子供のころから大好きだった念願の鯨の竜田揚げ、店員さんオススメの 名物 玉子焼き、それにお寿司の一色にぎり を頼みました。アルコールは苦手なので ウーロン茶でもとにかく思いましたが、ちょっと雰囲気だけ味わいたくて ノンアルコールビールに。 たくさんのお客さんで厨房はてんてこ舞い！それでもそんなに待たずに鯨竜田揚げ 、玉子焼きと運ばれて来て早速楽しむことに。 鯨の竜田揚げは鯨特有の微かなクセがありますが、以前和歌山の太地町で食べたもののように強烈なクセはなく高知の室戸で食べたものよりは熟成感があって とても美味しかったです。添えられてる大根のケン のフライもサクサクで美味しかった(ΦωΦ)玉子焼きはもちろん美味しかった白飯が欲しくなります。 2品食べ終わって少ししてからお寿司の登場！ 一色にぎりは九巻の盛り合わせでネタもシャリも大きめ 味も新鮮で美味しかった！ 僕の地元石川は刺身も寿司も美味いので有名な土地柄で、石川では大手のチェーン回転寿司でさえネタが新鮮で他県のかたが驚くと言う場所ですが、 厳選された魚を提供して下さってる 下の一色さんのお寿司は...
