cafe one — Restaurant in Nagoya

This café is in a quiet part of Nagoya, near to Hisaya Odori station. It's a little difficult to find, as the only indication of its whereabouts is a simple wooden sign at the top of some stairs. Once you go down and through the doors -- then turn right and right again -- you'll find yourself in the café.

The decor is pretty random, though collectively so; the mismatching but similar-sized tables are laid out with pairs of chairs that also mismatch with other pairs. The lampshades from the ceiling lamps are also mismatching in shape and colour, but nothing in the room looks cluttered.

Everything is kept very clean and tidy, and the atmosphered is bright but quiet, as not so many people tend to visit at any one time. Of course, there are probably exceptions for weekends.

The food is freshly made on the premises; a large selection of hot and iced drinks, and also a range of delicious food, mainly consisting of different kinds of salad-rice plates and crepes. Everything comes in a reasonable size, and I think the cost is very reasonable too. Neither too expensive, nor too cheap. In fact, the staff were very accommodating, as a friend was wanting just a salad. This isn't on the menu, but the staff could improvise and knock together a very delicious caesar salad in short time.

I'm impressed with the staff's commitment towards their customers, as well as the care they take with the shop. I enjoy the quiet and comfortable atmosphere too. The shop is open relatively late, closing regularly at midnight. This café perhaps isn't ideal for working, as power sockets are far and few between, and the free wifi is provided by the relatively slow Usen Spot Free service. But it's a great place to go for some relaxing time or with friends...

2024/5/11の夕方に行ったらピンク色の服着た20代くらいの女性がイライラしながらレジ仕事してた。 真顔でマスクしてないから余計に怖い。 怖すぎる、なぜそこまで機嫌が悪いのか。 何も知らず、外の看板を見て店内へ。 入口の外には子供お断りの手書きメモあり、もっと大きい字で書いてはいかがか。 入ってすぐ違和感あり、レジに注文に行くのか席で待ってれば良いのか。 いらっしゃいませの案内は無く『扉を閉めてください』連発。 人がいるレジに近づくと頭上に手書きメニューあり、見ていると『そこは通路なのでそこで見ないで』と。 自分の後に来た人にも、怒りながら女性スタッフが同じ内容を連呼してた。 だったらスタバなどのように、並びながら見れるように手で持って見れるメニュー作るとかすればいいのに…。 ホームページにも一部メニューしか記載がない。 だからここでメニューを読むのだろう。 レジで注文しようとすると、今度は眼下にもメニューあり。皆ここで読むから並ぶんだと思う。 しかもケーキなどは左側のショーケースに行かないと見る事ができない。 次の順番の人がケーキを見に行こうとすると、またも『順番に見てください』連呼。 レジでドリンクを受け取るも、砂糖やミルクが見当たらず、探したらだいぶ左側に置いてあった。 どの店員もイライラしてて、怖そうな表情、せっかく来てるお客さん達がかわいそうだった。 ちなみにセットメニューなどの割引は無いそう。 食べ物は美味しかった。 雰囲気は良いのに残念…なぜあのよう...
