I stayed at Quaint House for a night. In the morning, I had breakfast here at Akaito Coffee. The cafe was amazingly well decorated. We ordered some desserts ( a scone, a cake) a toast and cups of coffee. I think it is worth a try. If you like its coffee, you can buy coffee drip bags at the cafe. Right opposite the cafe, there is a house with a dog. It looks cute! If you sit by the windows, you can enjoy the quiet views of the island. Inside the cafe, there is a corner where there were books for diners to read and souvenirs to buy. Outside the cafe, there was some space where it was also decorated. You could take a lot of pictures at the cafe. I would say Naoshima Island is really an excellent spot if you aim at a relaxing trip in Japan. I stayed for a night on the island but I am sure I would at least two nights the next time when I visit the island. I would slow down my pace and chill out there. Having breakfast at different cafes would be my choice. And I would have a meal at Akaito Coffee again if I visit Naoshima Island...
Located about a 5-minute walk from Miyanoura Port on Naoshima, this small cafe has the appearance of an old house with an impressive handmade sign. The sign itself is easy to recognize, but it looks like an ordinary house in a village, and the entrance (although there is a sign) gives the impression of a visit to an ordinary house, which may make some people a little hesitant to use the cafe. However, the staff is so calm and gentle that you may feel that your nervousness is unnecessary, and the atmosphere in the cafe is relaxed enough to make you forget about the passage of time. The fact that the café opens at 7:00 a.m. is one of its charms, and it may be a good place for guests staying on Naoshima to have a leisurely breakfast. The appearance of the dishes and drinks served is quite simple, with coffee being the main beverage and toast, scones, and cakes being the main dishes. Even a simple cup of coffee can take a little time from order to service, as the coffee is prepared with different roasting methods and exquisite blends, but you can fully enjoy the rich aroma of the coffee. Antiques and secondhand books are placed inside the store, creating a nostalgic atmosphere. The denim rugs on the tables are also stylish and fit the atmosphere of the cafe very well. There is also open terrace seating, which may be the best place to spend an afternoon in the sunshine on a sunny day. The entrance and exit have steps, so those with disabilities, such as wheelchairs, may find it difficult to...
Read moreA lovely sweet place. Couple are sweet, and are on top of advertising! They make everything easier for the customer, including real photos of their food on an ipad. Amazing coffee and cakes, could barely choose between them. Would only wish there were a few more english books to read. Husband writes sweet local mini newspaper run trough donation, and they are exactly what they seem by their entrance. Inside seating is not wheelchair accessible, however there was a lovely outdoor spot that is, and has a table to sit with the family. This place deserves its...
