Naoshima Yokocho — Restaurant in Naoshima

We were made aware of the 500 Yen cover charge and the 1 drink per person fee. I ordered a Gin and Soda and was told they didn’t have it. But that’s all I wanted. Finally they found a bottle of Kyoto gin. The stir fried vegetables with pork were mostly cabbage and bean sprouts and 3 ultra thin postage sized pieces of pork. I asked for rice and they said they didn’t have any. But they have fish with rice! The Udon noodles were essentially they same as my dish. More cabbage and sprouts but with noodles. This place is OK, but it's more for families with kids. The tv was on, there are French fries and onion rings. The portions are very small considering the prices they charge. It was 1,200yen for a sashimi selection but down the road, next to the port, is a place who does the same dish for just 600yen and it was much better. We ordered the red snapper rice, the server said they had no red snapper so it was just plain rice which was fine by us, but they still charged us 590yen! For a single person's portion of plain Japanese rice! There are much better places in Miyanoura, but most are not open on Mondays whereas...

Oct. 18, 2025 In total, I strongly recommend going to other restaurants for your meal. This restaurant is truly not recommended.

Since we didn't make a reservation for dinner, we were told they would charge a service fee, and that each person was required to order wine or soft drinks.

We ordered fried udon, snapper rice, fried octopus, and two drinks. We waited almost an hour for our last dish, and the whole store was so filled with smoke that it was irritating to the eyes. We spent more money than we thought eating...
