Went here today and sadly I was very disappointed. After walking Nara Park extensively, I really wanted an ice cold drink and a rest rather than just buying a drink from a kiosk in the park. I decided to come to this cafe. The owner told me there was no food to which I said was ok as I just wanted drinks anyway. I also asked whether she offered drinks take away to which she said no. I was still fine with this because I wanted a sit down rest anyway. She sat us down and I felt a little unwelcome but wasn't sure why. I ordered my drink, and my partner did not want anything at the time as there wasn't food or snacks available. I was served, and spent about 20 minutes enjoying the drink and the wonderful view from the windows. When I went to pay, another couple in front of us were also paying and the owner kindly took their money and thanked them. When it was my turn to pay I was met with a very cold silence. I wasn't sure what I had done wrong and I felt saddened as I actually did enjoy my rest and drink that I wanted - everyone in japan has been so lovely! Anyway, all in all, I paid a 450 Yen for one drink in a quiet cafe with unwelcoming service. Unfortunately I won't be recommending this cafe to my friends in their upcoming travels to Nara.
