Ten. Ten. Cafe — Restaurant in Nara

It's pretty hard to find bad food wherever I travel. And especially difficult in Japan. But the only thing pleasant about my visit to this Cafe today was the physical atmosphere. The woman who was running around rather inefficiently, appearing to help people , was borderline rude to several guests waiting at the door. Three people in front of me were told abruptly to read the notice that she had put on the little stand at the door that they had to sign in. For some reason she used her finger to the circle every single paragraph, of which there were many, on that notice. This elicited a giggle from the man waiting with his wife and child for a seat. What are we grade 1 students? So they filled it in and then she seated them. Luckily I had already put my name down. Or I would have been treated just as poorly. I ordered a curry dish that was overloaded with salt. Was the addition of a huge quantity of salt a mistake? Or was it done on purpose? Was it done to mask something that was wrong in the curry? I was immensely thirsty by the time I finished. So you are warned. If you like pleasant service, don't come here. If you like the very minimum of salt added to your food, don't come here. If you like to be treated with respect, definitely do...

Chancers!! Confirm price before ordering!

The curry udon turned out to be 200 yen more expensive than listed on the menu, and this is not a tax issue, I've been living here for years and understand that tax isn't included. Upon questioning this, we were simply met with a "oh, that's a misprint." If it's a misprint then fix it! How many others have been overcharged and not realized? I've never been to a café where staff can seemingly pick any price they want. The whole experience left a bad taste in our mouths. I don't recommend you visit, but if you must then make sure to confirm the prices before ordering.

To top it all off, the food is fairly mediocre. Not even worth the incorrect menu prices.

日本語 (警告) 店頭の看板に「キッズドリンクセット99円」とはっきり表示されていたため、キッズメニューと一緒に注文しました。しかし、実際にはキッズドリンクセットは先週廃止されていたとのこと。注文時に店員からの説明はなく、会計時になって初めて知らされました。 看板の誤った表記を指摘すると、店員は「消したが完全には消えていなかった」と説明しました。しかし、添付写真の通り、看板の文字ははっきりと見えており、消されている形跡はありません。 提供されたのは通常のセットドリンクの量で、キッズドリンクのつもりだったことを伝えても、料金を請求されました。 トラブルになる可能性を感じたため、こちらから「飲んだから払います」と伝え、静かに退店しました。 看板の誤表記を放置し、誤解を招く形で注文させるのは問題です。 こうした対応をされる可能性があるため、訪問はおすすめしません。

English (Warning) The store sign outside clearly displayed "Kids Set Drink 99 yen", so I ordered a kids’ menu item along with a drink, assuming it was a kids’ drink set. However, at checkout, I was informed that the kids’ drink set had been discontinued last week—without any prior notice from the staff. When I pointed out the misleading sign, the staff admitted that they had tried to erase it but failed to do so completely. However, as shown in the attached photo, the text on the sign is still clearly visible with no sign of being erased. The drink provided was a regular-sized set drink, and despite my explanation, I was still expected to pay. Sensing that arguing might escalate the situation, I chose to say "I’ll pay since I drank it" and left quietly. Leaving misleading signage uncorrected and charging customers based on that is unacceptable. If you prefer a hassle-free experience, I strongly advise against visiting this place.
