If you are here to see the waterfall created by the highest natural lake in Japan and want a simple yet delicious meal, this is your spot.
We happen to come to the Nikko Park on a very cold day in March and stopped in at this gift shop for something to eat. The associated Ramen store is self serve; you pay at the machine (has English), present coupon, then wait to pick up your order (they speak alittle English). There are a few tables inside the gift shop. The food was delicious! Service was excellent and the servers were so patient with us. We don’t speak any Japanese unfortunately but they made us feel welcomed!
There is also a small food stall that sells fried snacks (gyoza croquettes, fried potatoes etc) as well, we tried quite a number of things on their menu and everything we bought was delicious too. The lady was very kind and even though she spoke very little English, we were able to point and purchase - so patient!
All in all, a wonderful down to earth place to eat.
When in the gift shop, buy the lemon milk snacks - you will not regret it! And if you’re in this part of Japan, look for and try the lemon milk (from which the snack is derived from) - you will not regret this refreshing drink...
