けごんプラザ — Restaurant in Nikko

I stopped through here last weekend (Oct. 2) and really enjoyed it. Our coffees were made quickly and tasted great. The cafes openness, ample and unique seating, and trance house playlist add a very singular sit-down coffee opportunity to the mix of eclectic traditional restaurants and cookie cutter chain eateries. Food wasn’t a part of our order, but the menu offered a few things outside of crepes and other cafe staples. They also have free wifi, and are across the street from the bus station, so it makes for a good place to sit and wait for a bus back to civilization on a cold...

I'm not sure where the poor reviews are coming from, but my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our coffee and crepes from here.

They have a very relaxing decor, and look to have a wine selection during the dinner hours with a small bar area.

More importantly for us was that it was VERY toddler friendly, with multiple baby seats and a small play area outside with toys. This is quite a rarity in Japan, let alone Nikko.

In reality I'd probably give it a 4-star review, particularly because of the state of the restrooms, but I'm attempting to offset the ridiculous 1-star reviews I've...

中禅寺温泉バスターミナル前！ 日光駅行き最終バスが出る20時まで営業してます！ （12〜3月の冬季を除く）

中禅寺温泉エリアは夕方5時近くになると軒並み閉店してコンビニも無く、予約すればなんとか入れるお寿司屋さんと洋食屋さんが1軒ずつあるくらいの場所です。

つまり晩御飯難民になる可能性があるのだけど、こちらの華厳プラザさんは、冬季を除いて20時までやっているそうです。

その理由はバスターミナルの待合室が16時に閉まるけど、バスを待てる所が必要だからと言う理由からです。優しい！！

お店に誰も居ないと入るのに勇気がいるけど、遠慮なく入って「すみませーん！」とお声がけしましょう。

1日目はマフィン400円2つを明日の朝食用に買い「明日の晩御飯できますね」と仮予約しておきました。でもたぶん予約しなくても入れます。

お食事はピザとサラダ、フライ類、マフィン（持ち帰りOK）と言う感じですが必要充分です。

そして2日目の夜 お洒落な音楽が流れる空間の 薪ストーブの前を陣取っての食事は 今回の日光旅行で1番至福の時 だったかも知れません。

貸し切り状態だったのでマスターとの会話も楽しかった。

18時半から21時前くらいまで居たかな。 食べ切れない分のお持ち帰りを頼んだら サプライズでお菓子を入れてくれてありました。

それでいて、2人で8千円くらい。 リッツ・カールトンの晩御飯の予算4分の1くらいで済みます。

こんな広いお店を貸し切りなんて申し訳無いなあと思っていたのですが、昼は修学旅行の団体さんが200名きていたそうです。
