We visited Nikko during Golden Week, so most of the popular restaurants had long queues during lunchtime. Since this place had an available table and we were hungry, we decided to drop by. The soba was springy with a firm texture, yet delicate and refreshing - I finished it very quickly! Yuba sashimi was silky smooth and clean-tasting, went well with a simple dip of soy sauce and wasabi. The fried dishes came a little cold but still palatable and quite good with rice. I wish they had been freshly fried, because then I'm sure they would have tasted amazing. I did enjoy my beer with this meal.

This place was one of the few ones left open for dinner. As we went in, it took a while before they addressed us. I understand they were busy but at that point I wasn't sure if I should just go in and sit or continue to wait in front at the door as we were clearly seen and seats were open. The service was friendly though. I had the tonkatsu Kare and I just didn't like it very much. It wasn't bad but it wasn't tasty either. Also, the floor was incredibly sticky. Sadly I don't recommend it if other restaurants are opened around.

We were hungry between an early lunch and a 6pm dinner so wanted to grab something quick. The place was empty due to Covid and no tourists. The streets are pretty dead too on this long weekend. The food was simple but very tasty. Definitely worth the affordable price.

Because of work I’ve been staying in Nikko every month for around two years now. Since I always go to the same places I thought it would be nice to try new ones.

Ever since you go inside this “restaurant” you see that everything is extremely dirty. I’m positive that it’s been years since they cleaned the fryer machine because you can see it from outside and it was full of dirt. As it has good reviews I didn’t care that much, but when I entered I also saw that the menu that they offer outside it was almost everything sold out.

The problem comes now: I went with another person from work and, as you can only pay in cash and we were already sitting, he left to eat somewhere else. There was only three people in the restaurant ALREADY EATING and me. So I waited (alone) for the staff to come to take my order. But the thing is that for around TEN MINUTES they were ignoring me. Attending everyone for the TAKE OUT and ignoring the foreigner. They even started to clean stuff while I was there without believing myself.

I’ve been living in Japan for years and I speak the language fluently so I’m 100% sure there was not any kind of misunderstanding here.

I want to do a respectful review so I will end it here. 100% not...
