Couldn't have asked for a better location! The sacred bridge is almost right across the street and it leads right to the hill with the shrine/temple area--less than a block from the hotel! (Of course, once you enter the complex, there is still a lot of uphill walking to reach the main shrines and buildings but you'll be so enthralled with the beauty of the forest and your surroundings, you won't mind the hike. Just be prepared that it's a pretty large area to cover.) ||||The ladies at the front desk are sweet but have very limited English. Their relief to find out that my tall blond son spoke perfect Japanese was almost comical! There is a lovely onsen hot springs pool in the basement that we had completely to ourselves. Breakfast was adequate. ||||Be aware that most people visit Nikko as a day trip from Tokyo so the place closes up completely by about 6:00 p.m. Dining options are very limited. There is a wonderful steakhouse just up the hill from the bridge that we ate at twice. ||||Take a taxi from the train station. The hotel is uphill from the station and much too...

Great location, you can walk both Tosugu and city center. Our room was wide, clean and well equipped. I just have to say that the toilet has no water washing system which is very common in Japan. They have also common bath rooms for man and woman. Staff was so polite and friendly. However when we want to check in we arrived there 1 hour early and they said you can drop your luggage lobby and we already knew that and its okay. But my wife needed to visit the rest room and we asked any available rest room in hotel. But receptionist said in hotel they have no toilet for this and our room is not ready and she said we can use public toilet just nearby the hotel. Anyway this is actually very odd. Why did they said like that I still have no idea. Because in hotel every floor has their own toilet. Overall I can recommend this place....

The best staff of any hotel I’ve been to in Japan! The rooms are somewhat dated, but well maintained and very clean. Sometimes the noise from the onsen below is audible early in the morning, so be sure to use earplugs. Breakfast is free but very simple, so don’t expect too much. Western style with bread, eggs, cereal, etc. Overall, an excellent value for the money and probably the best located hotel for visiting Nikko’s shrines, temples, and historical Shinkyo bridge. I will be staying here again. Tip: Wifi is very fast, around 150 mbps, but their DHCP address pool is too small, so sometimes you can’t get an address. Just keep trying to renew the lease and eventually it will connect.

Great location, large room, clean and good value. Locate just opposite of Shinkyo bridge at the bus stop No. 7. When everyone else are struggling to get on a full bus and facing heavy traffic of Nikko in high season, you can simply burn off you callories and walk. 600m from Toshogu shire, Tomozawa palace 1400m and you can add another 500m from Tomozawa you will reach Kanmangufuji abyss. This might be a quicker option than waiting for the bus in high season. You will also be able to explore the city which has much to offer on foot rather than through the bus window.
