Sanraku — Restaurant in Nikko

It's a small restaurant located near the most important Nikko's temples. Their speciality is the "yuba", which is a typical food made of thin layers of soy milk curd. It's served in bowl with delicious hot soup and noodles, which can be "soba" or "udon". I tried the yuba udon: the taste of the soup and the texture of the udon combined with the delicate yuba were really unforgettable. I wish I could go back soon to Nikko to try...

Good mushroom soup, buckwheat soba noodles. Girlfriend got the ramen noodle soup with curry flavor. Even better than mine, ended up wishing I got it. Although the place wasn't toasty (we sat by the windows/door) still great to warm up after a cold winter hike through historic Nikko. Did not see tomato soup on the menu at all, unlike someone else here reviewed.

Nice little place, we walked in and were seated within a few minutes. We tried the cider which is very different to the cider we're used to in England! I had Katsudon which was nice though a little bit stringy. Everything else was good. My wife enjoyed her yuba soba (I had a bite, it was tasty!) Service was fast, friendly and it was so cheap you can't really complain....
