The NEO BAR in Nozawa Onsen is a licensed bar with snacks and meal times..for me it is a cool apres ski bar after pummeling the moguls. It has cool flowing beat reggae music, not too loud but loud enough to set a cool vibe to the place.....they make or have whatever drink you do and there is fancy Japanese whiskey too. For me, I just like a Campari, ice and soda and maybe a plate of grilled gyoza. This well recieved 'skier's bar' certainly serves tasty food including karage and sukiyaki. But it certainly feels less welcoming than expected if you are a large group (19 of us) and has younger teens. Service felt rushed and our younger skiers age 13 to 18 were made to feel they were too rowdy (not drinking) at a skiers bar. Think twice if you want to go as a group or with younger adults. The Neo Bar is a phenomenal place to relax after a great day of carving up the slopes. The crêpes are to die for, although they run out pretty quickly seeing as they're very popular. Good drinks, great relaxing room with plenty of room and a bookshelf full of manga for the more otaku people among the group.
