Tsukushinbo — Restaurant in Nozawaonsen

Definitely get a reservation. We showed up around 830 and had luck getting a table after waiting for a bit, but I think we just lucked out. Popping place with a fantastic specials list, delicious food, and great sake list. We over ordered and ate it all. We will definitely go back, our server Yugi was a bad ass with great recommendations. Some things we ordered: octopus Wasabi, chicken skewers, stick cheese, puffer fish skin, all sorts of shashimi, fried chicken, rice balls.

This lovely izakaya is situated in the first floor basement just under the heart of Nozawa Onsen.

Everything i ate was delicious and freshly made , and presented with care. The staff were very attentive and friendly. I can easily recommend this as a place to have food and drinks for the night.

Great paced meal - lovely service. Beautifully curated sake specials. The smelt, grilled onigiri, pickles, sashimi, meatballs, chicken yakitori, all just so great. Definitely make a reservation and you can eat and drink slowly and totally enjoy. In a basement but with more seating than anticipated. A really fun and super delicious experience. The butter corn and butter potato were SO good. Ate and drank a lot - 13100 JPY for two of us. Oh and tons of lemon...
