The food court at the aquarium is by itself impressive for the variety of options, but we were blown away by the tempura at this place. If I had any complaint, it's that the bowl was deceptively volumnous and we had a heck of a time finishing everything. The breading had a satisfying crunch and didn't completely wilt when they sauced it, but upon inspection it was actually kinda thick, so it was filling me up faster than expected. The kakiage was, too, as it packed a lot of crab and squid into a thick patty. That itself could have been a meal.

大洗の水族館こと、アクアワールド大洗内のフードコートに出店されているそばやうどん、丼類のお店です。 （フードコートは水族館の建物内に入ってやや進んだ所にあり、入館料を払わなくても利用できます） 見た感じ、駅とかによくある立ち食いそば店のような雰囲気。 ただ、天ぷらには そこらの立ち食いそば店には無いようなこだわりがあるようで、ちゃんと注文を受けてから揚げてくれます。 看板メニューでもある海鮮かきあげは、よくある丸いかき揚げをイメージしてるとびっくりするでしょう。ナンのような細長い形で、そのぶん、丸いものの倍近い面積。かなりのボリュームでサクサクです。揚げたてなので、すぐ食べようとすると火傷しそうになるほど熱々。 麺のつゆは驚いたことに、関西風のうどんだしに近い色が黒くないタイプ。 こちらも一般的な立ち食いそば店のクオリティをイメージしていると良い意味で期待を裏切られるおいしさ。 ただ麺については、よくある立ち食いそば店的な、蕎麦粉より小麦粉の割合の方が多いようなタイプの、お湯のなかでほぐせばすぐ食べられる状態のようなものでした。 うどんも同様のお湯のなかでほぐすタイプだと思いますが、柔らかくて弾力のある、なかなかにおいしい麺です。 つゆとの相性からみても、そばよりうどんの方がおすすめです。むかし大阪駅で食べた立ち食いうどんを思い出します。 注文を受けてからだしとカレー粉を練って作ってくれるカレーうどんもおすすめです。

I was very surprised by this restaurant in the food court. The quality was very good and the price was extremely reasonable. I had the 大洗海鮮 (Oarai kaisen) with soba and it was so delicious - I couldn't believe that it was only 800 yen! I will probably go here if we go to Aqua...
