Nao — Restaurant in Onomichi

A highlight of our stay in Onomichi. Some of the most delicious, fresh sushi I’ve ever had, with some incredibly kind and welcoming owners/staff.

There is no set menu: you go in and you order based on the ingredients available that day (or get recommendations), so the selection is always fresh. We particularly enjoyed the oysters and sea urchin / uni.

We happened to stumble upon this place without a reservation, but since there are only 8 or so seats, would recommend reserving.

Pricing is also incredibly good considering the quality...

One of the best, most enjoyable meals I've had in Japan. I am so glad I went. The food was exceptional, there is no menu so they just offer you things and they were all delicious. The staff were so helpful and friendly and the lovely lady serving me spoke very good English. I think even if you don't speak Japanese you will still be able to manage. An incredible place with astounding food and a really welcoming and communicative service.
