I found Lingua a place with a wide selection of very good North American food, an exceptionally child-friendly environment, and a super relaxed atmosphere. I would describe it as a great place for the family, or to just hang out with friends to drink coffee, craft beer, and maybe play a game or two. I understand they also hold regular events.
The place was on the ground floor, had a kids play area, and a small selection of board games, like Sorry! and Battleship. Coffee and Baird beers (a very notable craft brewery) were also on the menu. We hung out long after we had finished eating. As one who normally dines-and-dashes when in the company of kids, I was surprised at how quickly time passed.
As far as what we ate, the menu had something from North America for everyone. It's one of the few establishments that offers poutine, which we had along with burgers, the normal side of fries, sandwiches, salad, and root beer, all of which was very good.
Overall, this was a place I would love to go back to, possibly for an event or just to take the family out. I would highly recommend it for anyone who wants a kid-friendly place to take their families, wants to scratch an itch for North American cuisine, or wants a place to open their notebook and get down to work that's NOT a Starbucks.

Read moreWe found the cafe while Googling for a brunch place nearby our hotel. We loved the ambience; cozy yet not cramped, and the Christmas decor had a really nice touch! Had a lovely chat with the owner and his wife while dining, went back for a second visit because we loved the place!
The portion of grilled sandwiches were definitely worth for its price. Would recommend the grilled sandwich with gorgonzola cheese & Shimeiji mushrooms.
Would definitely visit this cafe on my next...
