Lovely friendly hole in the wall (tiny!) restaurant, close to TeamLabs. Location on maps is accurate. No English or Romaji signage, it’s a sliding door beside a stairwell. Pic attached.
Zero English (menu or otherwise). It’s like eating at your grandparents restaurant. The chef (grandpa) will point to the sushi tray and say “setto” inferring “set menu” or mixed set. My advice is just SAY YES. I put my hands up (not understanding anything the grandma/lady waiting on us was saying) and said “Omakase”. She laughed.
The food was delicious! Sitting at the bar watching the chef expertly prepare nigiris and listening to the TV in the background made the experience.
A la carte servings come in twos, so if youre like us and gesturing mostly, we gestured “1 toro” and you will get two pieces.
We had 2x mixed sets. Nigiri portions were HUGE. Fish was super fresh.
We were having a good time so ordered even more: 1x Uni, 2x Toro, 1x Salmon, plus 2x small sakes. Cost: ~15,000JPY, which for omakase for two people with drinks, very reasonable for what we got! Obviously the uni ($$$) and sake ($$$) upped or costs for us but I think the platter only would be

If you are someone who appreciates local restaurants with endearing owners, come here. As a tourist/short term visitor I do not speak japanese, but it did not discourage the wife of the sushi chef, a lady with an amazing personality, from interacting. Sushi chef had a stoic personality with a welcoming smile, occasionally distracted from his work to let out a laugh at our conversation.
I went there with my wife and mother, and the lack of children became the topic haha... I can see some people being rubbed the wrong way but the conversation through google translate (as best as it could translate) was full of jokes and good spirit.
The fish was great, but the people are why I am writing this review. That to me is far more valuable. I never got either of thier names but ill remember thier faces and good spirit...

Both are very friendly, especially the woman, who is always smiling and cheerful. The sushi is quite fresh, clean, and generously portioned. They offer sushi in sets of 10 pieces or à la carte. In addition to sushi, they also serve sashimi and other dishes.
The prices are relatively high compared to typical sushi places. The menu and prices are posted on a sign behind the counter, written only in Japanese, which might be a bit challenging for foreigners. Some customers have even complained that the prices are too expensive—possibly because they can't read Japanese and end up ordering whatever the owners recommend. When the bill comes, it can seem pricey compared to other restaurants.
The restaurant itself is quite small, with only about 8 seats at the...
