Cosi Cosi — Restaurant in Otsu

Cosi cosi sneaks up on you out of the blue. One minute you're walking down what appears to be a desolate side street in Otsu. Then bam, a nondescript doorway appears and an awesome pasta and wine bar beckons. Eight seats at a dark wood bar around an open kitchen. Two tables in the back. But who really wants to sit away from the action. Pasta pomodoro with buffalo mozzarella for the wife. Peppery pasta carbonara for me with Iberia ham and wonderful focaccia bread to sop up the peppery cheese sauce. A light semi-sweet red and a sweet white into the meal, your transported with fellow dinners to a clean well-lighted place in the most Hemingwayist tradition away from worldly concerns. Ordered assorted appetizers, the shrimp and mushroom ajillo with baguette, and classic carbonara. Every dish was delightful!

While the flavors were undoubtedly delicious, I found them leaning towards the saltier side – perhaps a matter of personal taste. Nevertheless, the cost performance was excellent, offering great value for money.

One minor drawback was the lingering scent of food/smoke on my clothes, a small price to pay for the overall experience. The fantastic service is worth mentioning, making a return visit...

家族の誕生日に初めて訪れました。 1週間前に電話にて予約をさせて頂き、その時、電話応対も凄く丁寧で その段階で好感度アップです。 当日予約時間に訪れた際もスタッフの方が 凄く丁寧で気持ち良く席に着く事が出来、 お料理もどれも美味しく、中でも 生ハムとアヒージョは自分好みの味で ワインがいつも以上に進み過ぎ 有る意味、要注意です。 また、バケットのおかわりが無料で これまた良い意味で要注意です。(美味し過ぎて食べ過ぎます) カウンターがメインのお店の様ですので 次回はカウンターで今回とは違った お料理を頼みたいと思える、とても良いお店でした。 追記 女性スタッフの方々、笑顔が素敵で本当に 良い接客でした...
