curry&cafe sama — Restaurant in Sapporo

If it’s about soup curry, SAMA is the king of soup curries ( for me and friends). On the picture it’s my favorite: tomato based pork curry with more vegetables and more soup option, with awesome lassi, for after this delicious curry. BUT…( 2022 update reduced 5 stars to 1 star) the Sama company introduced a new order system; you can’t just simply go order from menu, pay and go, but need to copy a QR code and order your food by your smartphone ( IF you have smart device, not simple flip flap non smart cellphone) off course in full Japanese! If you’re a foreigner like me , not reading kanjis you’re damned to not be able to order ( it’s about more control, right?) The kind staff they say they will help ( being my Wife with me) , but when I’m alone, I’m not sure I get help….( plenty of previous experience all over this town) . Sorry for reducing the rating dramatically; this new QR code forced system...

Singaporeans should come here for the amazing soup curry.

I ordered the level 15 tomato curry and it absolutely destroyed me. But I couldn't stop eating since the curry was full of flavour and the ingredients paired well with it.

For any Singaporeans coming here, I would recommend humbling yourself on the spice level and go for the much more comfortable level 7 curry.

I ordered coconut soup curry with boneless chicken and veggies. The broth is nice and a bit sweeter than I expected probably due to the coconut milk. I recommend this one with mild spicy otherwise it might be a bit too sweet. Note that they serve the table on first come first serve bases so even one single traveler like me has to wait for all the in-pair customers got their seats even there’s a vacancy for one person near the counter. So please leave more time...
