Read moreI appreciated the beautiful scenery while dining, and I am confident that the food and ingredients used were of high quality. However, this positive impression was significantly diminished by the lack of explanation and proper alcohol pairing by the staff.
The waiter in charge of our table, Fukushi (福士), did not make an effort to explain the dishes and seemed disinterested in serving us. When we inquired about the composition of the dishes, he merely pointed to the menu, expecting us to figure it out on our own. It was only after we explicitly requested an explanation that he asked a colleague to assist.
We also opted for the wine pairing with our meal set, but many of the pairings felt questionable—for instance, serving red wine with sashimi. While this might come down to varying taste preferences, an explanation of the pairings, if intentional, would have been greatly appreciated.
Additionally, Fukushi's impatience while we were settling the bill was off-putting, and he neglected the customary Japanese farewell of standing at the exit to bid us goodbye.
In contrast, Kikuchi (菊池) provided exemplary service. Despite not being assigned to our table, he was extremely respectful and friendly, taking the time to explain each dish to us. He was also patient and courteous while handling our payment, and his professionalism greatly improved our...
Read moreWent with my family and food and service was great. I was looking forward to the Hokkaido Tokachi beef for one of the courses of our "local" Kaiseki meal, but its flavor and texture was quite underwhelming compared to my previous experiences with "wagyu" rated beef. However I am not an expert of this local beef so I can't deduct any points for my own inexperience. The matcha tea served with the desert was also not my favorite. However food can be subjective and everything else was amazing (no restaurant will ever have a perfect course for every individual) and I cannot fault the restaurant as these were supposed to be local...
