Many people probably come to this restaurant based on its Google review rating. From the long line outside, it’s clear that most customers are tourists, as many were carrying luggage.
The staff’s attitude was quite unfriendly. Ordering is done through a machine, but the actual menu offers options to adjust the richness of the broth and the firmness of the noodles. However, the staff didn’t ask for our preferences. The broth was too salty for me. My daughter said that the miso-based broth is a signature of Sapporo, but I believe other ramen shops should be just as good.
Additionally, this restaurant is very difficult to find, especially for those who don’t understand Japanese and rely on Google Maps. Coming from the east exit of JR station, we couldn’t walk directly there. Instead, we had to go up to street level, find the subway entrance, and go back down.
In my opinion, it’s not worth the time or a meal to try...
Read moreNot a ramen fan. I find it too fatty/salty with noodles that are often too soft. Many trips to Japan and I have had very little as a result. That said, Hokkaido ramen is made with a lighter miso broth and has butter and corn added. If I’m going to eat Ramen this has got to be a winner. One of the best places required us to go about six levels below ground up and down many staircases to find this very poorly lit alley. We stood in a long line, ordered from the vending machine, and sat down inside a restaurant that was about the size of my closet in my bedroom. I actually really enjoyed it. Noodles had a really nice bouncy springing us to them and the broth with the miso was light and easy to enjoy This was under $10. With food like this so readily available I can see how Tokyo has so many apartments w no more than a hot plate for a kitchen. #thefoodietraveler...
Read moreDo NOT miss this restaurant. I've been to over 200 ramen restaurants throughout Japan and this is THE BEST Miso ramen I've ever had, period. I've even tested a few others in Sapporo, and this one reigns supreme.
For a 1 day visit in Sapporo, I ran to make it in time before closing, and I was not disappointed. The broth was perfectly salty with the miso with an exquisite flavor that cannot be expressed outside of the language of the Gods. The meat (chashu) was delicate and melts in your mouth along with the broth, the noodles 4/5 in freshness perfection. And the scrambled egg on the side made it one of the best experiences I've ever had eating Ramen. My eyes were closed for most of the experience to focus on exactly what makes the broth so special. Don't miss it. Service was fast, I didn't wait more than 5 minutes. Get their recommended, you'll...
