Came here for ramen after going to the shrine. A cute young guy working there came to tell us in English which ramen on the ramen machine was which. But I didn’t know my ramen didn’t come with egg and then asked him if I could pay extra to add an egg. He said no, which I understood is how Japan goes by following the rules. But a min later he came out with his translator and an egg for me, the translator said we don’t normally do it and will only do this as a one time exception but here is your egg. That was so kind of them and the egg really made a difference! The ramen noodle was really good and the broth was slightly on the salty side and I saw a lot of locals also ordered rice to go with it, probably is a good idea. Get the ichi-no-tora, that’s the stronger flavoured soup, with an extra slice of the delicious, soft and buttery char shu that just melts when you eat it. You can up the spice level, but I find that it’s just chili oil and it then masks the flavours of the soup itself. The noodles are chewy and delicious. Read moreThe spice ramen is one of the finest bowls you can find in Sapporo. Amazing depth and balance in the broth…kinda like soup curry meets ramen. What was equally impressive was the cooking of the springy yellow ramen noodles, which can often be pretty standard fare.
