We only tried this place since it was near our hotel. The food here is pretty terrible: it’s a weird Chinese-Japanese fusion but done really badly. Their speciality dish “Zangi chicken” is dry and bland. Even though they have different flavours, since they fry it together, the batters get mixed up with each other. We also tried their chicken skin skewers. Even though it took a long time to come, it wasn’t fresh. They cooked it before hand and just microwaved it. Some parts were still cold while other parts were burning hot. I think this restaurant is popular because of the cheap drinks and because they allow smoking. The staff don’t seem to care about serving customers and work very slowly. Avoid this place at all costs. If you want skewers, go to the chicken...

Zangi Chicken, a Hokkaido comfort food staple

I heard so much about zangi that I have been trying it everywhere since landed in Sapporo. But this has to be my favorite spot so far, the chicken has a nice balance of fatty to crispy ratio. It’s not too greasy. The skin is cooked well where the exterior maintains a crispy light texture, reminds me of lechon skin but thinner and just as crispy.

I was curious about the different flavors so I needed to order the different flavors. I recommend getting the platter of 4 to try the different flavors. The cheese one will surprise you, it ass a slight rich flavor to the chicken.
