Kakiya no Kakiya — Restaurant in Sendai

Only sits 8 customers! Suggest coming at an off-hour for eating. We arrived at 2:15pm and were seated with no problem. Be aware that they do close at 3pm for the afternoon, though!

A tiny establishment but with a whole lot of heart. The proprietor was very kind and considerate, assisting us with our ordering process. There were a few menus along the walls and also on laminate, with handwritten options, which always takes a bit longer for us to decipher. We were very happy to be able to try the famous oysters of the region here!

Tiny place with under 10 seats so you might have to queue if it’s busy. I recommend the oyster tasting platter (4 pieces, 1 per region). The guy was kind, he gave me some maguro and a manju too. Amazing oysters. Never eaten oysters this fresh and tasteful. All of the dishes were lovely and tasted amazing.

This is a must visit in Sendai. Note that it is a small place, we waited 10 minutes to get seated. And I would gladly wait that time again for that...
