Kouya Kokubucho — Restaurant in Sendai

We are visiting Japan and decided to try this restaurant last night based on a recommendation from Savor Japan. The front staff was polite but distant, a noticeable lack of friendliness compared to the restaurant we visited the night before.

Normally the restaurant staff also greet you as you enter and exit a restaurant and are seated, but that was not the case here either. We were asked if we preferred a counter seat (up close to the chefs) or a table. We had no preference and they seated us at a table, away from the chefs and other patrons.

The food itself was a bit pricey for the quality. I was disappointed to find bones in one of my nigiri pieces. I probably should have taken a photo to add to the review. The bones were not the ultra fine type either. This really threw me off because I’ve eaten a huge range of sushi and have never once had bones in any piece.

Overall, the visit left a negative impression. I don’t know if being foreign had anything to do with it, but I felt like the care for our service and food were lacking and I would not...

Sushi Koya is one of our favourite Sushi place in Japan! The staff are very friendly and warm welcomed! The sushi the owner Murakami-san makes are the magic! Sooo good! So fun to watch him making sushi at the counter. 2025年5月中旬に訪問しました！ この日は山形から仙台市内に戻って来た日になります。 戻りの夜も会食があり先方が用意してくれていたこちらのお店に訪問になりました。

仙台市内(繁華街)で必ず行ったほうがいいお寿司屋さんということでハードル高めに連れて行っていただいたのですが結論かなり良かったです。

カウンターの高単価のお鮨まで敷居が高い形ではなく。 近年流行っている寿司居酒屋とは比べ物にならないレベルの高さです。昔ながらのレベルの高い町寿司という印象でした。

立地は国分町のど真ん中に位置していました！ 国分町だと立地がかなりいいと思います。 また、お話をお伺いするとこちらの店舗だけではなく複数店舗展開をしているようです！凄い。 後々仙台の友人に聞くとみなさん知っているお店でしたので認知度もかなり高いと思います。

外観は昔ながらの馴染みのあるお寿司屋さん。 入りにくさなどはありません。 店内に入ると入店からかなり良い対応で予約の有無を確認してくれます。

店内はライブ感あるカウンター席。 個室の掘り炬燵、テーブル席と多種多様な席タイプでした。今回は3名でしたがカウンターが空いているということもありカウンターに案内してもらいました！ 色々と説明もしてくれたので美味しさ倍増です笑

客層は年齢層が高い印象です。 若い子はそんなに見受けられませんでした。 同伴などもいました。また、営業時間が3時までと記載されていたのでナイト系の仕事終わりなどの利用もすごいんだなと感じました。 ただ、これは売れるよなあという印象です。

お寿司だけでなく一品ものもかなり手が混んでいてレベルが非常に高かったです。 お寿司に関してもレベル高いですね。 シャリは赤酢が使われていました。 グラム数も小さすぎず大きすぎず女性、男性共に食べやすいサイズ感でした。 また、お酒に関しては日本酒がかなり豊富で魚に合います。カウンター立たれている板前さんも全体的に愛想が良く無愛想な方がいませんでした。

全国的に見てもこの価格とこのサービスは探しても中々ないと思います。 料理からサービスまで全体を通して間違いはないと思います。 接待やプライベート利用など幅広くお店を利用することができるなと思いました。 ご馳走様...
