Due to the pandemic, tables are no longer available, so seating is only at the counter. From there, you can watch the master expertly prepare each piece of sushi and chat with him—he always wears a mask for extra hygiene.

Read moreI went today to Matsue sushi on the way back from Matsushima. The place is very quaint and the atmosphere is great. It is also small (about 12 or 14 people maybe?) So keep that in mind if you are a large group. The place is run but a very sweet and hospitable couple. The chef shows the customer the whole eating etiquette, from how to use the shibori (the towel) to how to eat the sushi. I chose a set including a soup, salad and a platter of sushi that just kept coming. Everything was super delicious. In the end, I got a plate of fruits, and candies!
