We chose this restaurant due to it's proximity to Hida Folk Village, (around a 7-8 min walk, one stop past using the local bus).
The meal was exceptional. Incredible price performance on the set meals, and the food was cooked very well. I would recommend the Beef Steak Set Meal for 2950 yen; cooked to perfection and amazing quality meat. My only qualm is that the beef is slightly over seasoned if you want to eat it by itself, but it is perfect with rice.
The soup for their soba is one of the best I've tasted in Japan, perfectly balanced and goes perfectly with the noodles. The vegetable set is also quite tasty, and offers a wide variety of local produce.
They have English menus for tourists, and the staff understand English decently well.

The set meals feature foraged forest vegetables, delicious grilled miso to flavour rice with, and the tastiest turnip pickle I've ever had. The mid range set was ¥1450 and had ample food for a hearty lunch.
