Read moreWe stayed at Sakura Guest House for 5 nights in a private double room. It has a lovely peaceful location situated between takayama old town and Hida Na Sato folk village. Staying here really gave the feeling of being in the countryside. ||If you are fit, the area is easily walkable (20-25 mins to the Takayama station). Otherwise there is some bus connectivity however the last buses are around 5/6 pm as it is the countryside. ||The guesthouse itself was cheerful with very clean shared toilets and showers. The kitchen is fully equipped and a great place to meet other travellers. ||There was also a free shuttle service drop to the station in the mornings which we made use of. ||There are also eateries right next to the guest house which are great such as Fudo where we went one night. ||Right opposite the guesthouse is a fancy art hotel which also houses the Takayama Museum of Art, which had an incredible collection of Art Nouveau and Art Deco glassware...

I felt strange about that.||Otherwise, this place was comfortable, cozy, and in an ideal location. I...
