Boulangerie Noboriya — Restaurant in Takayama

We loved this place! The people running it seemed like lovely people, putting out some insanely good breads. Most Japanese bakeries tend to favour sweet, fluffy breads but this one seems to have a a good selection of harder, sourdough type breads as well. So it was a refreshing change for us.

OK, like finding a boulangerie in Japan was not something we expected along our journey. As a Frenchman, I got to say I almost cried munching on one of their pastries, ...not far from perfection. So after our visit, we had to came back for one more (and fill our bags for the next day)! My only regret, not trying their baguettes. Don't change a thing and kudos to you over there....
