I highly recommended this restaurant. Check the website since it is closed on Wednesday. On other days, it is closed by 8pm. After driving a short distance to the beautiful waterfall on the road up the hill behind the restaurant, we ate a delicious meal. Everyone can find something to eat on the extensive menu (tempura, soba, fried chicken, etc). One family member is vegetarian, so he ordered udon with sansei (vegetables). I ordered the Higa beef misoyo set meal, which comes with a shredded cabbage mini-salad, two kinds of pickles, rice, miso soup. I cooked the beef and vegetable by mixing together with my chopsticks on a flat small hot stone grill, about the length of chopsticks. The miso flavor on the beef and vegetables was delicious. I’m very glad I tried this since I don’t eat beef very often. Another person enjoyed the Anki special set which had a mix of different items (mini-bowl of beef, 2 pieces of chicken, rice, salad, pickles, etc. ) Be aware that this special set meal is only printed in the Japanese menu. The English menu doesn’t show this special set. The photo shows the beef...

I went for lunch in May and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t crowded — no queue at all.

My husband and I each ordered a Hoba Miso set — one with Hida beef and one with pork belly. I’d never tried this dish before, and it was quite good, though a bit too sweet for my taste. I also ordered the minced Hida beef cutlet, which was delicious.

One thing I really enjoyed was the pickled ginger. I usually don’t like pickled ginger because it’s often too sweet, but this one wasn’t — it had more of a salty and slightly sour flavour, which I loved.

The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating, and the service was quick. I’m not sure if there’s an English menu since I received the Japanese one, but the main dishes had pictures, and the staff spoke basic English, so ordering...

We stopped here for lunch on the way to Kanazawa. It is one of the better choices along the way, and the views of the ski area, even in summer, are nice. We enjoyed the Hida beef Udon, although the beef included was a small amount. The pork and Hobamiso set was a better option and was very tasty. I can imagine this dish is very popular when the weather gets colder. We did mark down the service an additional star because they charged us for an extra dish that we did not order. I hope this was unintentional, but we encountered this several times during our 2.5 weeks in Japan (hum). Otherwise, it's a very nice spot for a quick meal and very...
