Hirayu-no-Yu — Local services in Takayama

This self serving hot spring right at the center of Hirayu town, located right side of the Jinya and and foot hot spring ( free). Put in ¥300 at small wooden boxes at front and you can free to use either woman side or man side, they is well maintained and water is real onsen water without add on anything. We were camping at Hirayu camping ground and available to use in the early morning before leaving for the next place. If onsen is something you are interested then this place is the one you should come to use as it would be very highly recommended. Amazing and unique bath. The water is different from the other baths and much more "natural" in a raw and dense way. I loved every minute of it. Feels great but will leave stains. The smell of the bath is pretty strong and will stick on your clothes even after a couple of washes. It's a great scent while in the bath but the sulfur left on clothes is piercing to the nose. As other reviewers have said, there's no way to clean yourself beforehand or afterwards. I recommend not wearing your favorite clothes directly after this bath. A wonderful bath with very nice hot springs water. As the other reviewers state, this is not a bath with amenities like showers/hair dryers/etc. so it's best to visit it as part of a "hot spring hop" where you'll take a shower/scrub down elsewhere.
