Okamoto — Restaurant in Tanabe

I wanted to try something new since I was in the city. This restaurant is run by a nice elderly couple whose service is pleasant. The restaurant itself seems old and maybe nostalgic to locals, but I was not bothered by it.

I ordered the ¥800 meatball sweet and sour set, which came with fried chicken, cabbage, miso soup, tea, rice, and two sweet and sour meatballs. This dish was very delicious. This local Japanese-Chinese place is a must-go in Tanabe city if you are looking for easy comfort food—that only locals know—type of place.

My favorite is the Ankake Nikudango (meatballs with sweet soy starchy sauce) & fried rice set for 1015 yen. Most of time I order to go and it takes 15 mins max to be ready. They have at least 2 free parking spots across the street so you can wait there or inside of the restaurant. When I go, I avoid the normal busiest time since it is quite popular. （2022年8月12日時点） 和歌山県旅行で、拠点とした紀伊田辺駅近隣ホテルの近くにあった中華料理店の料理が量が多く美味しかったので、コメントします。

滞在中、2回食事をして、何れもサービスメニュー(定食)Aセット（唐揚げ定食、野菜炒め定食）を注文しました。 ご飯大盛りは、丼大盛りで、50円増しですのでお得です。 おかずも食べたのは2種類でしたが、いずれも美味しかったです。 お店の中は、昭和の雰囲気がありますが、清潔でした。
