Chōei-ken — Restaurant in Tochigi

This is a traditional Japanese-style Chinese restaurant located along the Tomoe River. The interior of the restaurant is small but clean, and the wait staff is very polite and attentive. You can see the Tomoha River from the window and feel the atmosphere of the place. The menu is not very large, but all of the dishes are delicious and generous in portions. This time, I ordered fried lebanila and dumplings. The chef seems to be a one-man operation, and it takes a little time for him to prepare the dishes when there are too many orders, but you should wait patiently because you can enjoy the delicious food. You can already tell the lebanilla stir-fry is delicious from its appearance. It contains a large amount of liver and the volume is still amazing. You can't feel the smell of the liver at all, and once you start eating it, you can't stop.👍 The gyoza is healthy with a lot of vegetables inside. Dandan noodles were gentle and flavorful with a thick milky broth, tangy and fragrant, but not too salty. The gyoza were divine. Best I have had to date. Liver was gentle tasting, but very balanced. The leek (spring onion) were perfect and the bean sprouts gave the dish a nice crunch.

The hosts do not speak English, but they welcome foreign guests and explain all the dishes using images and hand gestures.

Portions are huge, so come hungry and come early as this place...

長く栃木で開業されている先輩に大変美味しいと聞き来店。栃木駅からお店までは歩いて15分ほどかかりますが、道中が結構面白い店が多くあり全く苦痛になりません（金魚の湯もあり）。 営業時間がPM1:30までとなっていたので急いで行きましたが1:30ラストオーダー2:00閉店なので1:30までは入店できます。 1:00に到着しますが満席でしばし待ちます。 今回は担々麺+餃子5個にしました。担々麺は一番上にほうれん草がトッピングされていて見た目から美味しそうです。 担々麺を食べるにあたり表層の赤い部分を混ぜずにそのまま食べるか、最初から混ぜて食べるかが大問題ですが今回は混ぜずに食べました。 皆さんおっしゃるように辛さは強くなくピリ辛で胡麻とひき肉の風味が混ざりとても深い味わいです。 レンゲはスープすくう用と穴が空いてスープを濾して具だけを食べる用の2つがついていて優しさを感じます。麺は夕顔麺。カンピョウ文化が根付いています。 ボリュームもあり、食べ終わる頃にはうっすらいい感じの汗をかいています。 餃子もかなりいいです。野菜、肉、ニンニクに加えてピリッとショウガがきかせてあります。個人的には宇都宮餃子より高知の餃子を思い出しました。餃子もマストかと思います。 周りはニラレバ定食を食べており、次回はそれを食べようと思いました。 配膳役の奥様の心遣いがまた素晴らしく、また来たいと思うお店で...
