Updated on 12.04.2020: I went to the bakery again yesterday. I was shocked to see an old lady staff was using her bare hands to shuffle around the unwrapped breads at the display area, and casually piled a tray of bread on top of the other breads while shuffling. I just walked out and will not return again. Before this, I gave this bakery 4 stars.
This bakery has been operating for more than a century. The bread display area is relatively narrow and it's difficult to choose slowly at the same time with more than 3 people. There are quite many bread selections, more on the sweet ones than savoury. I've tried a few types, like the matcha adzuki loaf coated with sesame and caramel roll. However, my favourite is the koppe pan (hotdog bun) which you could order with condiments like butter, peanut butter, jam, adjuki paste, custard or jam, and the staff will spread them right after. The larger hotdog buns and hamburger buns are excellent and one of the few places I’ve found both.
The reason for 1 star:
I’ve stopped going to this bakery because of this maskless elderly lady working there. I think it’s the owner. I’ve been several times, seen her maskless so didn’t go in those times.
She also handles the bread without gloves. Today however I went to go in and she was there, LICKING HER FINGER to get a plastic bag, then using same hand to put bread into the bag. So all bread in bags has been her saliva on it!!!!!
Before I felt sorry and was fairly forgiving for the elderly lady, and today her hair was full of sakura flowers, dead leaves. Considering this is a place that has food the health department should do an inspection.
Really annoyed as with all Covid-19 concerns and a worker at the bakery is maskless and putting spit onto bread. It shouldn’t even need to be brought up with others working there, as they can see it happening in...
