味の王者 新華楼（しんかろう） — Restaurant in Tokyo

A Chinese restaurant near Nakano-sakaue Station. In Japan, privately-run Chinese restaurants called "Machichuka" are well established in the local area, and a culture of enjoying reasonably priced, popular Chinese food has developed. This restaurant is one of the "Machichuka" restaurants, which has been in business for 55 years since it was founded by a married couple. When you order tanmen, the wife boils the noodles, while the husband stir-fries the vegetables and meat, creating a beautiful combination that is cooked just right. こちらは、1969年（昭和44年）創業、新宿を中心とした都市開発の波に飲み込まれず、半世紀以上も愛されてきた老舗街中華の名店『新華楼』

場所は、地下鉄「中野坂上」駅から徒歩3分ほど。 山手通りと新青梅街道が交差する中野坂上交差点から一本入った静かな住宅街にある。

平日12時過ぎに同僚らと初訪問。 外観は年季を感じる佇まい。 ランチタイムは、いつもほぼ満席。 この日も外待ち2名。 待つこと10分ほどで入店し、テーブル席に案内される。

店内は、左手のカウンターは奥に8席ほどと右手に4人用テーブル3卓ほど。 赤いテーブルに、赤い丸椅子。昭和の映画に出てくるような典型的な中華店のつくり。 カウンター席とテーブル席の間は激狭く、壁には手書きのメニューがズラリ。 年配のご夫婦で切り盛りしている様子。 因みに、全席喫煙可なのでご注意あれ！
