This place was amazing! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the warmest owner. There are no English menus but fret not, the best places are ones with no English menus. You’re going for the pancakes anyways so you don’t need a menu. But if you are curious, the owner does speak English! I had the pancakes, of course, and hot chocolate. Oh my, it was delicious!! Definitely recommend if you want to try the Japanese style pancake!
It’s a very local spot. Quaint and quiet. Away from all the tourists. It can be intimidating walking into a place alone but the owner was so sweet and friendly. He asked where I was from and how long I was in Japan for. A truly genuine kindness.

Read moreHeard about the place through a friend and thought I’d give it a try as I love those fluffy pancakes. We traveled about one hour to the cafe just to open its door and be yelled by the owner from afar saying “we’re full!”. Not only did he yell at us but also gestured us to leave with his hand. I was so taken aback, and clearly so were the other customers who were already at the establishment. He didn’t give us even the opportunity to ask whether or not we could wait. It was really, really astonishing.
I don’t care how good his food might be, or how stressed might have been at the time. No one should treat people like that. Very unfortunate. I’d never recommend...
Read moreWent there on a weekday. Was almost empty. The hotcakes are cheap, beautiful and delicious. The owner is friendly and very kind. He is running this place for over 50 years now. And while on weekday to get a seat is pretty easy, on weekends there is always a line. No reservations taken!! So if you have time, go on the weekday. Interior is also amazing. You can feel the old Tokyo. So peaceful. I would highly recommend this place, especially if you are already nearby or at least around...
