They have options for meat eating barbarians, vegetarians like me, and uptight vegans. I didn’t try the vegan karage but I’ve heard it will change your life.
We had a few of the vegetarian small plates (egg plant, daikon, carrots) the mixed veggie tenpura, natto tenpura, and fried rice. The natto tenpura is just genius, I didn’t even know it existed before last night.
This was the best meal I’ve had after several months in Tokyo, and possibly the best meal of my life. The owner was so kind, and kept double checking if I was ok with eating certain ingredients in the dishes. She even brought over a complimentary cup of New Year’s sake. The frozen desserts are yummy too (we had yogurt flavor).
Everything about this place was perfect.
I’ll definitely be coming back very soon to try other vegetarian/vegan options on the menu. In the meantime I’ll be dreaming of that...
I have used this restaurant on about three occasions when there were visitors from overseas who required vegetarian and vegan options. While the food itself is not bad, the menu is difficult to read and understand, and there is no English menu, which makes ordering a bit of a hassle. Additionally, the attitude of the female staff who always come to take orders is not very good.
When I couldn't find anything I wanted to drink on the drink menu, I said water would be fine. However, I was told in a rather coercive manner, 'Since this is an izakaya, you must order at least one drink.' What should one do if there is nothing they want to drink on the menu to begin with? I would like these outdated rules to be reconsidered. Feeling upset, I left without placing an order. I probably won't visit this...
Read moreThey definitely have meat dishes. We came for Sunday lunch, and the menu included a fried fish plate, a tempeh plate, a side of karaage (fried chicken), and a side croquette (with meat inside). The lady was nice enough to substitute the fried fish lunch plate for fried chicken for 100 extra yen. Despite her working alone, the food came out pretty fast. Overall the food...
